Westenberg Research conducts research on societal issues. Westenberg Research was founded in 1998 by Mirjam R.M. Westenberg. After obtaining her PhD degree in 1991 at the Methods section of the Psychology Faculty of the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, she worked there as assistant professor for several years and later at the University of Tromsø in Norway. Besides her work for Westenberg Research, Mirjam still is guest lecturer at the international graduate institutes of the University of Amsterdam, in the fields of research methods, statistics, and philosophy of science.
The research conducted by Westenberg Research is mostly about societal issues such as urban problems, intercultural issues, youth, education, healthcare and quality of justice. Our research is always attentive to people as individuals, as well as taking account of the relevant 'system' an individual person is part of, for example the group, the organization or the wider community. Accordingly, Westenberg Research uses an interdisciplinary approach, working from different perspectives, including sociology, psychology, political science, public administration, law and linguistics.
"Being a generalist, I see analogies in different areas and can make cross-connections. It is the result of over 25 years of research experience in a broad variety of fields, ranging from bussiness and industry to government and science. This experience is usefull for cross-pollination. Still, the essence always remains the same: it is about how people think and why they think that way."
